Why We Love This Vodka Slushy Recipe
- This slushy recipe is made with only 5 ingredients.
- It’s made in about 5 minutes.
- It’s flexible with the variety of fruit that can be used (so it can be made with what’s on hand).
- The recipe can easily be adjusted for less (or more) servings.
- Of course, it’s super refreshing and delicious!
Can I Use Another Frozen Fruit?
Absolutely! Frozen raspberries were used, but you can use what you enjoy best. Other delicious options are frozen strawberries, cherries, blueberries, pineapple or mango.
Just keep in mind that different varieties of fruit will have varying degrees of sweetness (which will impact the overall flavour of your frozen drink).
Can I Make This a Mocktail Instead?
Yep! If you want this raspberry drink to be non-alcoholic, instead of vodka, you can sub in with some cold water or more orange juice.
Tips for Making This Recipe
- When making this frozen slushy recipe, ensure you use frozen fruit, not fresh. The frozen fruit is what makes this drink thick and cold.
- You can make this vodka cocktail as thick or as thin as you like by adjusting the amount of water you add. For a thicker consistency, add less water and for a thinner consistency, add more water.
- If you prefer things sweeter, add in more simple syrup. If you do, just reduce the amount of cold water by the same amount (so you don’t thin out your drink too much).

Vodka Slushy Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound frozen raspberries
- 1 cup cold orange juice
- 1 cup crushed ice
- ½ to ¾ cup cold water, or more for a looser or thinner consistency
- 6 ounces vodka
- ¼ cup simple syrup, or to taste (see "Notes" below)
- Orange slices, garnish to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until combined. Divide slushy between four glasses and garnish (if desired) with an orange slice. Serve and enjoy!Note: If you want things on the thicker side, use ½ cup of cold water. Add more if you want things looser or thinner.
Notes
- Simple syrup is equal parts white sugar to water. Heat ¼ cup of water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat (don’t boil), stir in ¼ cup of white sugar and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool. You’ll likely end up with a tad more than what’s needed for this recipe, but you can properly store cooled leftovers in a covered glass storage jar in the fridge and use within a few days or so.

Sounds so good to beat the summer heat here in Texas- one question though- does it have to be raspberries or can I replace with frozen strawberries or any other fruit? I’m not a big raspberry fan.
Dawn | Girl Heart Food
Hi Kim! You can certainly replace the frozen raspberries with frozen strawberries if you like. Other delicious options are frozen cherries, pineapple, blueberries or mango. Hope you enjoy the recipe!

We’re gin drinkers as a rule, but always have vodka on hand for friends who hate gin, lol! I’m definitely going to give this refreshing summer cocktail a try!

Lol…hope you enjoy!

Summer is particularly slow coming here. It likes to just tease us a bit with sunshine and warm weather and then bam, cold and rainy. As soon as it warms up, I’m making one of these slushies and sitting out on the deck in the sunshine. I have a freezer full of raspberries from last year, so I’m all ready!
Dawn - Girl Heart Food
I hear ya! Hope you enjoy, Kathy! And lucky you with all the raspberries!
Alex
I have vodka just waiting to be used in something delicious like this 😉 Truly though – YUM! What a lovely and refreshing drink, Dawn!

Awesome! Hope you enjoy, Alex! Cheers!

Hi! If I made a bunch of these for a party, do you think they’d keep in a cooler with a ton of ice? If I made them the day before and let them freeze solid, I wonder if they’d thaw back to slushy consistency? Hmm.. Open to ideas!
Dawn | Girl Heart Food
Hi Kate! I haven’t tried this before, so I can’t say for certain … I usually just make the slushies and enjoy. If I were to guess, perhaps if you made a batch (just adjust the ingredients to however many slushies you want to make) and place in a freezer-safe container in the freezer, then the mixture should be scoopable (or slushy) the next day when you are ready to enjoy. Then you could portion into glasses upon serving. Love to know how it goes!! Enjoy! 🙂

Well, hello, my new friend! The winters are particularly long and cold here in upstate New York, too, so we look for any opportunity to get outside during the summer. A batch of these raspberry vodka slushies and a chair on the porch are definitely calling my name! I love how easy these are to make, too – perfect for a Friday afternoon! Pinned.

Woo hoo! Thanks David! Cheers, my friend!
