With ingredients like cream cheese, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, garlic, chives and smoked paprika, this easy roasted red pepper and feta dip is absolutely packed with flavour and always a hit. Plus, it only takes about 10 minutes to prepare this deliciously creamy dip!
I love to have a good dip on hand for when that snack craving hits (which is quite often, by the way). You too?
You’ve probably seen those tubs of store-bought roasted red pepper dip. They’re pretty decent, but homemade is so much better if you ask me. Plus, it’s just so easy to prepare (typically in 10 minutes or less) and you yield lots.
This roasted red pepper and feta dip is great to have on hand and perfect for casual entertaining with friends, or a laid-back Friday night at home while catching up on some of your favourite shows.

Ingredients
- Cream cheese: Either regular or light cream cheese works in this roasted red pepper dip recipe. Just make sure the cream cheese is softened so it blends nicely.
- Roasted red peppers: Jarred roasted red peppers add tons of flavour, plus a pretty hue. Two medium to large roasted red peppers (or about 8 ounces) is what’s needed.
- Feta cheese: I prefer to buy a large block of feta cheese and crumble it myself instead of buying one of those packages where the cheese is already crumbled.
- Chives: Fresh chives add a lovely pop of colour and freshness. Feel free to substitute with green onion.
- Garlic: Freshly minced garlic is recommended for this recipe over, say, garlic powder. It has a great pungency that really compliments the other ingredients. Use a garlic press, knife or the small holes on a box grater to mince the garlic, whatever works for you.
- Lemon juice
- Seasoning: Includes smoked paprika, crushed red pepper flakes, salt and black pepper.
How To Make Roasted Red Pepper and Feta Dip
Here is an overview of how to make roasted red pepper and feta dip (full details are in the recipe card below):
- Combine all of the roasted red pepper dip ingredients in a food processor.
- Process to combine (don’t overmix because you still want some texture in the feta cheese).
- Transfer the dip to a serving dish.
- Garnish with a little more feta cheese, chives and smoked paprika. There ya have it, easy roasted red pepper feta dip that’s ready to be devoured!
Serving Ideas
Hands down, my favourite thing to serve with this roasted red pepper and feta dip is pita chips. These store-bought pita chips are so yummy (not sponsored).
Other than pita chips, this dip is great served with tortilla chips (especially lime flavoured), thick-cut potato chips or veggies (like strips of bell pepper, broccoli and cauliflower florets, baby carrots and/or celery sticks).
For a fun twist, if you want to serve the dip as a condiment, it works great on a veggie sandwich (use the roasted red pepper and feta dip in place of mayo or hummus, for example).
Tips
- Soften cream cheese quickly: It’s best if your cream cheese is softened before using so it blends nicely. Here are some ways to soften cream cheese quickly (I usually use the countertop method).
- Spice: If you like things extra spicy, feel free to add a little more crushed red pepper flakes. If you prefer more of a smoky flavour, add a little more smoked paprika.
- Garlic: For this recipe I like to use one to two cloves of garlic. If I use just one clove, it’s typically a large one. If the cloves are more regular or medium-sized, I’ll use two. In the end, it’s about ½ tablespoon of minced garlic. Let your heart be your guide. If you are unsure of how much garlic flavour you want, it’s best to add a little garlic, taste, then add more if you feel like it. Remember, it’s easier to add than to take away.
- Texture: When mixing up this dip, you don’t want to overmix the ingredients because you’ll lose some of the texture in the feta cheese. It’s nice to have little bits of crumbled feta in the dip. Mix everything until it’s just combined, but don’t overdo it. A great tip is that when adding the crumbled feta cheese to the processor before mixing it’s best to have larger crumbles. That way, once processed, the feta cheese won’t be broken down too much. If you are using pre-crumbled feta cheese (and it’s rather small), what you can do is mix up the dip without the feta cheese, then add the cheese and use the pulse feature on your processor to gently incorporate it.
- Garnish: I kept garnish rather simple by using ingredients that were actually in the dip. But you could also add some other toppings, such as a drizzle of olive oil (lemon flavoured is yummy) or some chopped grape or cherry tomatoes.

Roasted Red Pepper and Feta Dip
Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 8 ounces roasted red peppers, patted dry of excess moisture and chopped (about 2 large peppers)
- ⅓ cup crumbled feta, plus more for garnish
- ¼ cup chopped chives, plus more for garnish
- 1 to 2 cloves garlic, minced (I usually use 1 large clove or two regular/medium sized ones)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice, or brine from jar of roasted red peppers
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, plus more for garnish
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in a food processor and process until combined (don't overmix because you still want some texture in the feta cheese). Once done, give the dip a taste and, if desired, season with a little more salt, pepper, smoked paprika or crushed red pepper flakes … whatever you like!Tip: When adding the feta to the processor before blending, don't crumble it too small (medium to large chunks are okay). That way, once processed, the feta cheese won't be broken down too much. If you are using pre-crumbled feta cheese (and it's rather small), what you can do is mix up the dip without the feta cheese, then add the cheese and use the pulse feature on your processor to gently incorporate it.
- Transfer the dip to a serving dish and garnish with a little more feta cheese and chives and a sprinkle of smoked paprika. It's great served with pita chips. Enjoy!Note: This dip can be enjoyed right away, but I find it best if it's chilled in the fridge for one to two hours. You can simply cover with plastic food wrap and refrigerate for an hour or two before serving.

I had to chuckle to myself when I saw this post. We have a jar of roasted red peppers in the fridge, and I was just asking Laura what we should do with it. It appears the universe (or maybe just my phone) was listening! This dip sounds super flavorful and easy to make. Plus, feta is good. 🙂
