Looking for a fun, new lunch idea? Try this easy meatball wrap! A tortilla is filled with savoury meatballs and lots of delicious toppings, like baby spinach, onion, avocado, tomatoes, cheese and tortilla strips. With lots of flavour and texture in this homemade wrap, you’ll want to give this recipe a try!
Recently, I made some bison meatballs and were they ever delicious! After pretty much devouring them as is, I had a few leftover and decided to put them to good use in a meatball wrap.
If you’re trying to mix up the ol’ lunchtime routine, then these homemade wraps are a great way to do that. They’re jam-packed with delicious ingredients and, like most wrap recipes, come together quickly.

Ingredients
- Sauce: Which is a combination of mayonnaise and buffalo sauce. Simple, but delicious!
- Tortilla: Use a large tortilla for this meatball wrap, something around 9 to 10-inches in diameter. There’s lots of ingredients stuffed in the wrap so you want the tortilla to be large enough to hold them. I used a multi-grain variety, but you can use a regular variety or something flavoured, such as spinach or sun-dried tomato.
- Veggies: Include baby spinach, onion, tomatoes and avocado (though, avocado is technically a fruit).
- Cheddar cheese: I love cheese on pretty much most wraps and sandwiches (or, if I’m being honest, just as it is), and this meatball wrap is no exception. Feel free to use another variety of cheese if you prefer. Queso cotija or Monterey Jack are yummy options.
- Meatballs: Depending on the size of your tortillas (and the meatballs), I typically use 3 to 4 meatballs per wrap.
- Tortilla strips: These add a lovely textural component to the wrap. You can typically find tortilla strips where you would find store-bought croutons and the like.
How To Make a Meatball Wrap
Here is an overview of how to make a meatball wrap (full details are in the recipe card below):
- Spread some spicy mayo in the centre of a large tortilla.
- Layer on baby spinach, onion, avocado, tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Top with cooked meatballs.
- Add tortilla strips and drizzle over more spicy mayo.
- Fold into a wrap.
- Pan-fry the wrap on both sides just to get a little colour on the outside (this is optional, but I do enjoy doing it because it warms up the wrap a tad and I find it helps it stay together).
What Kind of Meatballs Do I Use?
I used homemade bison meatballs for this meatball wrap. They’re super delicious (and easy to make). Plus, they’re coated in a wonderful sweet and savoury sauce. You can use another variety of meatball if you prefer, like these buffalo turkey meatballs or moose meatballs.
And, it doesn’t have to be homemade meatballs! You can use your favourite store-bought variety if you wish. I’ve even made this meatball wrap with my favourite plant-based meatballs, and it turned out equally as delicious.
Whatever variety of meatball you use, just cook (or reheat) them before using in the wrap.
What To Serve With It
Hands-down, my favourite thing to serve with this meatball wrap is tortilla chips (lime flavoured is great) and salsa (store-bought or homemade salsa).
Some other delicious side options are crispy potato wedges, chicken taco soup, potato chips or corn and black bean quinoa salad.
Tips
- Meatballs: As mentioned, you can use homemade meatballs or a store-bought variety, whatever you prefer. Trying different flavours is a great way to mix things up.
- Toppings: Feel free to switch up the toppings. For instance, try guacamole instead of avocado, chipotle ranch dressing instead of the spicy mayo, or chopped Romaine lettuce instead of baby spinach.
- Crunch: Tortilla strips add a nice crunch and texture to the meatball wrap. You can substitute with corn chips or crushed tortilla chips if you prefer. Try a flavoured variety of tortilla chips for extra yumminess.
- Make more: This recipe yields one meatball wrap. You can easily make more to serve more people.
