If you’re looking for an easy appetizer recipe, then this baked camembert with jam is a must try! For extra colour, flavour and texture, there’s also fresh berries, thyme and walnuts. Creamy, luscious and simply delicious, this recipe for baked camembert is absolutely perfect for casual entertaining.

In about 20 minutes (including prep) and less than 10 ingredients, this baked camembert recipe could be yours! Yay!
If you’re like me, you love cheese. All the cheese. Period. And melty cheese? Well, that just gets me extra excited!
This baked camembert with jam is a fantastic appetizer with all the flavour, but little fuss (though, I could honestly make a meal out of just this). And, I could totally eat this all by myself. I’m pretty sure my clothes wouldn’t thank me, but my belly would.
Being summer, it’s the season of casual eats. I love to always have an emergency supply of cheese in the fridge, especially camembert (joking … kinda). Why? Because this baked camembert recipe is so darn easy to whip when unexpected guests arrive at your home and want a little nosh.
Put some melty camembert cheese and toasty baguette in front of them, and it looks like you put tons of effort into making something. Secretly, though, you know how easy it is to make. Then again, if you served this to every guest that came to your home, they’d never want to leave!
How To Make Baked Camembert With Jam
Here is an overview of how to make this baked camembert recipe (refer to the recipe card below for full details):
- After unwrapping, place the wheel of camembert cheese in a small baking dish, then score it in a crosshatch pattern over top.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together blueberry jam, wine and thyme.
- Spread the jam mixture over the camembert cheese, then bake.
- Once baked, top with more thyme leaves, walnuts and fresh berries.

Can I Eat the Rind?
Absolutely, the rind on camembert cheese is edible! I find it rather tasty, but you can remove prior to baking if you prefer (or at least some of it). At times, I’ve even removed the whole top layer of the camembert cheese instead of scoring.
Basically, some people like to eat the rind of camembert cheese and some don’t. Do what pleases you and your taste buds.

Can I Use Another Jam?
Definitely! I’m all about using what you have on hand, especially when a recipe is as simple as this one.
If you don’t have blueberry jam in the fridge or strawberries are your jam (ha, no pun intended), then switch it up!
This recipe is pretty laid back (if a recipe could be that). Another lovely combination to use with this baked camembert cheese is strawberry jam with tarragon and fresh strawberries (instead of blueberry jam with thyme and blueberries).
The upcoming summer season begs for easy recipes. No one has time to spend hours in the kitchen when the sun is blasting outside, am I right? Make something easy (like this recipe), go outside and enjoy the company of friends and family. Good stuff!

Camembert Baking Tips
- Typically, it takes about 12 to 15 minutes to achieve a nice, melty baked camembert. If you underbake it, it won’t be quite melty. However, if you overbake it, then it could be too melty, then eventually harden (and that’s not what you want with baked camembert cheese).
- Use a baking dish that’s not much bigger than the wheel of camembert. If it’s too big, then your camembert could seep out and you’re left with a melty blob. I mean, still tasty, just not quite picture perfect, ya know? (I love to use a brie or camembert baker.)
- If you don’t have a suitable baking dish, wrap your camembert in some parchment paper, then in some foil and bake. Once done, you can transfer to a small serving dish that’s just big enough to hold the cheese.
More Tips
- If you’d rather omit the wine, that’s perfectly okay.
- Other yummy alternatives to walnuts are almonds, pecans or pistachios.
- If you only have blueberries (and not blackberries, for example), that’s perfectly fine. Just top with extra blueberries and it’ll still tasty yummy.
- I’ve even used the melty camembert on a sandwich. Toast up some ciabatta bread, spread a generous layer of camembert over the insides, then pile on some prosciutto or your favourite cold cuts. So good!
What To Serve With It
My favourite thing to serve with camembert cheese is warmed or toasted baguette. I mean, bread and cheese is a match made in heaven, isn’t it?
Aside from bread, serve the camembert with crackers, pita chips, veggies (like broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, strips of bell pepper or carrot sticks), and/or fruit (apples wedges and grapes are wonderful).

David @ Spiced says
Oh, I am all about some camembert, Dawn! Funny story: way back when I first met Laura, she sent me to the store to get some brie. I mistakenly bought camembert because (1) I wasn’t into food as much back then and (2) I wasn’t paying attention. But we used the camembert, and it was amazing. I’ve been a fan ever since! I’m totally digging the little bit of wine + thyme here. What a fun summer appetizer! If I’m eating camembert with crackers, I leave the rind on. But for a dish like this, I would go rindless, too. Looks amazing, my friend!!
Girl Heart Food says
I love both brie and camembert so either is good for me! In other words, if hubby came home with brie I wouldn’t turn him away, lol. Thanks so much and hope you get to try this one out!

Thank you so much Sues!! And I appreciate the Pin! Totally would be PERFECT with a big glass of red – I like your thinking 😉 Enjoy, my friend!
