These Strawberry Mango Kefir Ice Pops are an easy summer dessert recipe that can be whipped up in minutes. They are creamy and loaded with goodness from only 4 simple ingredients. Did I mention they’re also refined sugar free and gluten free?
I’m always on the look out for an easy summer dessert, especially cold ones! For awhile we were buying ice pops at the supermarket. Not anymore! Don’t you just love when you recreate something at home that you have had out, like something you purchased at a store or enjoyed at a restaurant? I know I do! Case in point with these kefir ice pops. These Strawberry Mango Kefir Ice Pops are not only as good as the store bought ones, but better!
What is Kefir?
Kefir is a fermented milk drink that is quite thick and has a slightly tangy/sour taste. For me, it tastes kinda like a cross between yogurt/sour cream/milk. Like milk, kefir has calcium, protein and vitamins, but it is also a source of probiotics! So adding kefir to these gluten free ice pops was a great way to not only make them have a creamy consistency, but a treat I could feel good about eating.
I started off on a rocky road with kefir way back when. Hubby has loved it since he tried it. Me? Took a little while. Once I tried it in a smoothie, there was no looking back! And now with this easy summer dessert, I’m completely sold!
Strawberry Mango Kefir Ice Pops – an EASY Summer Dessert!
Like with most homemade ice pop recipes, these kefir ice pops are beyond easy to make. You simply mix the ingredients in a food processor until you’ve reached your desired consistency (I like mine smooth with a tad little bit of texture left). Freeze and enjoy! Nothing to it, right?
Tips for Making these Easy Homemade Ice Pops
- This mixture is thick! I spooned the mixture into my pop molds. In order to minimize air bubbles I placed a wooden skewer (or you could use a butter knife) and swished the mixture around so that everything settled before freezing.
- I used 6-5ounce molds. If your molds are larger or smaller, the number of ice pops you yield will vary.
- If you want things a little sweeter, add a little more maple syrup.
- Greek yogurt is also a lovely in this gluten free pops if you don’t have kefir on hand.
My friend, Sarah, of Champagne Tastes has her own recipe for milk kefir if you want to go that extra step. For this recipe, though, I just used store-bought because that’s what I had on hand and I wanted these ice pops asap!

I just finished making water kefir with my grandkiddies and it was a fun exercise. I will have to experiment with milk kefir next but I think I will be like you and want to make these ice pops as soon as possible so will likely buy some milk kefir. I love the pink colour of these Strawberry Mango Kefir Ice Pops, Dawn! And I am sure that they are as delicious to eat as they are to look at. Thanks so much for sharing.
I’ve never made water kefir before, but would love to try…we drink the store bought stuff all the time. Thanks so much, Denise – hope you get a chance to try these pops out 🙂

Loreto and I we love kefir, either milk kefir and water kefir. We haven’t made popsicles this summer. At all! This is such a great way to have it, adding fruit and maple syrup. Love it!!
Time to get making ’em! Thanks so much, Nicoletta 🙂 Happy Monday!
These are a great snack for the kids to enjoy over the Summer!
Most definitely! Thanks Kevin 🙂
I love the color or these pops! I have never had kefir, but these pops would be a perfect way to get introduced to it. The fact it has probiotics is a huge selling point! Thanks Dawn!!

Just look at that colour! I’ve always wondered what kefir actually was. I’ve been seeing so many delicious recipes using it. I think these ice pops would finally make me try it. Perfect for summer! We do love making homemade pops too. How’s your day going so far? Woke up feeling like it was Friday so imagine my disappointment lol!! Have a lovely rest of the week!
Thanks Jolina!! Ugh, that sucks when that happens…one more day, Jolina…one more day 😉 Enjoy your weekend!
Kefir is pretty popular in some European countries, but it looks like most people from North America are not that optimistic about this drink. And I totally understand it – it has a truly peculiar aftertaste. I love kefir for its tangy taste, and it also perfectly pairs with fruit and berries so you’ve absolutely nailed it by creating these delicious popsicles!
It definitely has a unique taste, that’s for sure! Thanks so much, Ben 🙂 Hope you’re having an awesome week!
I started making my own kefir last year and then gave up on it after a while. I will need to try it again I think!! Especially if it means I can put it into these pops! Yum! Love that they’re refined-sugar free!! Happy summer, Dawn!
That’s impressive! Love how thick it is! Thank so much, Katherine. Same to you 🙂
First, these are just beautiful! I could use on (or two) right now. Where I live I doubt kefir is sold, although I haven’t looked. I used to drink it a lot in college, but that was in California during the 70’s! I’m going to check on it next time I visit the store!
Thanks a million, Mimi! Good luck on finding it 🙂 Have a wonderful week!
Gimme all the ice pops Dawn! It’s so hot and humid here! Ugh! Love that these are only 4 ingredients!
You got it, my friend! Thanks so much 🙂
The heat continues here in Ontario, so I’ll be adding these delicious, refreshing pops to the rotation here 🙂 So pretty, too!
Woo hoo! Stay cool, Jennifer 🙂 Thank you!
Such a brilliant idea to use kefir in ice pops! I bet they are super creamy! I’m totally into making my own ice pops now! To be able to enjoy a dessert that uses whole ingredients and is refined sugar free is just the perfect balance for summer! I’ll be adding these to the must try list for sure!
Thanks! They are super creamy! Have a wonderful week, Leanne 🙂

I love making homemade ice pops, but I haven’t had a strawberry and mango combo before. It sounds amazing.
Super yummy! Hope you like ’em – they’re pretty tasty, if you ask me 😉 Thanks Dannii!
Yum! I can’t consume dairy, but I make water kefir at home. I love the use of kefir (so many health benefits)!
These would also work with almond milk if you’d like to give that a try 🙂 Thanks so much, Linda!
We love kefir. We love fruit. And we love popsicles. Soooo, this combo is winning all around! Just pinned…thanks for the great recipe, Dawn 🙂

Strawberry and mango you say? I’m in! I love that these don’t contain refined sugar. Any way I can have dessert but still avoid sugar is good with me :). Have a great week, Dawn!
Yep!! Thanks Kelsie 🙂 Have a great week too!
Oh, these are so perfect for summertime! I love frozen desserts on hot, hot days, but you’ve made this even better by keeping it healthy! I think I could have a couple of these and have no guilt about eating them! 🙂
Thank you Kathy! You sure can 😉
My son would love these! I started him on kefir when he turned one as I grew up drinking it too and he has never missed a morning without it. Making a kefir popsicle for him is super exciting. BTW – his favorite kefir flavors are strawberry and mango, lol. These pops will be an instant success! Pinned.
Yay! So happy to hear that! Let me know how you guys like them if you try 🙂 Thanks Milena!
Yay for kefir! Kefir in a popsicle is such a great idea- I bet it’s super creamy!! We make our own kefir and I always have extra- I love this!
It is super creamy!! Thanks Sarah 🙂
I totally know what you mean about that rocky road with kefir, Dawn. I tried kefir a couple of years ago at a local food show, and it was ok…but I didn’t love it. In fact, I still remember the company name. Cow Bella. How fun is that name? But I’ve never tried blending kefir with fruit. I’ll give it a shot sometime, and I’m thinking these popsicles will be on our dessert menu soon. I love a good cold treat on a weekend afternoon!
So fun!! Give these pops a try – it may just change your mind about kefir 😉 Thanks David!
