This is a sponsored post with Bob’s Red Mill, but, as always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting brands that make Girl Heart Food possible and for helping me continue to do what I love – cook, eat and share delicious recipes!

This Creamy Orange and Vanilla Smoothie is packed with real orange and vanilla flavour and for extra oomph has vanilla protein powder.  It’s a delicious way to start your day or to get over that mid afternoon slump!  Plus, it tastes like a favourite childhood frozen treat in smoothie form!

Hey guys!  How’s it going?  You may or may not remember a little while back I was started a feature called ‘Quickie Thursday’?  So, as a refresher, it’s basically an easy recipe, just a little chit chat and a check in before the weekend to say ‘hi.’  So, here’s my second Quickie Thursday feature with this freakin’ delish Creamy Orange and Vanilla Smoothie using Bob’s Red Mill Vanilla Protein Powder.  You know I love my smoothies!  Two of the most popular ones here on Girl Heart Food are my Peanut Butter Banana, Cocoa & Coffee Smoothie and my Blackberry Coconut Smoothie.

LOADED WITH GOODNESS

Have you tried any of Bob’s Red Mill’s products?  There’s a lot of them and I always get excited browsing through their selection.  Every so often I love to try something new I haven’t tried before so today I’m using their Naturally Flavoured Vanilla Protein Powder.

I really love the taste and texture of this one, you guys.  This particular product is made with pea protein powder (say that three times fast 😀 ), chicory root fibre, chia seeds, probiotics and monk fruit extract for sweetness.  Per serving, it has a whopping 20 grams of plant based protein and 12 grams of fibre.  It’s also a source of omega-3 and iron.  Did I mention that it’s gluten free and vegan?  Loaded with goodness, right??

Putting this protein powder in your smoothie is seriously the BEST way to start your day.

CHILDHOOD FAVOURITE

Do you remember years ago (or maybe it was, like, yesterday) when you indulged in those Creamsicle frozen treats?  This drink is like that in smoothie form without any refined sugar…ya know, for when you feel like ‘adulting’….hehehe 😉

What was your favourite childhood treat? Besides a Creamsicle, the one thing that sticks out a lot for me is those Swedish Fish.  Remember those?  They were fruit flavoured gummy candy.  Orange was always my go-to.  Occasionally at fairs, I would opt for cotton candy, but I wouldn’t dare eat that stuff now. As a kid, though?  Fun, sugary, times 😀

PREPARATION

The key here is to use frozen orange segments.  It gives a thick body to the smoothie, almost like a frozen banana would.  Wearing my fancy pants again, I used real vanilla bean here and just loved the little flecks of it throughout.  However, if you don’t have vanilla bean on hand, feel free to use pure vanilla extract.   You basically have to put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.  Nothing to it, right?  I’m confident that you’re gonna love this one!

Until next time, take care & chit chat again soon 🙂  Have an awesome food-filled weekend!

I normally don’t start my days with a smoothie, because – I have no explanation – but once I’ve had a huge glass of smoothie, I will likely be starving in 30 minutes hah. There are only two ingredients which make my smoothies a good meal, oats and peanut butter. Well, I haven’t really though of protein which should work well too. Very nice smoothie you’ve got here!

Love Bob’s Red Mill’s products! Didn’t know they have protein powder now too, cool! This smoothie looks so refreshing and wow power packed with all the good stuff. We usually drink protein shakes after working out but this looks soooo much better. Can’t wait to try it! Happy Sunday to ya! PS: OMG I ate so much cotton candy as a kid but I would not dare eat that now either!

The first thing I thought of when I saw this post was the orange/vanilla treats I used to eat as a kid, but I couldn’t remember the name… so glad you mentioned it, Creamsicles!! I have an orange tree that is producing fruit like crazy. This smoothie might be happening in my kitchen soon! I’ll just have to pick some off my tree to stick in the freezer 🙂

This one is perfect for Chris. He loves smoothies and has them almost daily. I will look for the Vanilla Protein powder. We buy a lot of Bob’s Red Mill various flours and I use a ton of the ground flax seed. Glad that they now have this protein powder – hubby has to get his doze after lifting weights every other morning. I am way more lax:) I have smoothies for the taste:)

I used to love those creamsicle pops! Brings back memories of being at my Grandma’s house. And I love Bob’s Red Mill products too…the best! I’m wishing I was indulging in the smoothie right now. Love the sound of the orange and vanilla combo. Just what I need on this hot summer day. Pinned! Hope you have a great weekend!

I absolutely LOVE Bob’s Red Mill products! And, I happen to have a few bags of that vanilla protein powder in my pantry! The stuff is so good I’ve eaten it straight with a spoon. Lol. Buuut, I’m willing to bet it tastes even better in this smoothie!! Love that you based this smoothie off one of my favorites – the orange creamsicle!! I MUST try this immediately! Cheers, doll! Xoxo

I absolutely love Bob’s Red Mill! Seriously. Every single product we’ve used from them has been excellent. But with that said, I don’t think I’ve ever tried their vanilla protein powder. I definitely need to give that a shot. In fact, it kinda makes me wonder whether Robbie would like it. We’re having a bit of a challenge finding enough protein for him…and this could be the answer! Of course, that would mean Dad would have to not drink the entire smoothie while making it. Haha! Great recipe, my friend! Thanks for sharing!
