Monthly Favourites June 2016
Hey everyone! Can you believe that another month has passed? I certainly can’t. We are now officially halfway through 2016. What?! I know. Cray cray. As promised, here’s my Monthly Favourites June 2016 as well as a little summary of the recipes I posted in June. If you want to have another look at my May Favourites, you can find it here. Pour yourself a coffee, grab a comfy seat and enjoy!
RECIPES I’VE POSTED THIS MONTH –
FOOD & FOOD RELATED SHENANIGANS
Here are a couple of recipes from fellow food bloggers that I’m loving this month! I’m sure you will too 🙂
Frozen Strawberry Lemonade from Pumpkin ‘n Spice (pictured below and photo credit) Just look at that colour! Plus, there’s only a handful of ingredients and perfect for cooling off during the warmer months. Not to mention, anything served in those mason glasses look just adorable, don’t ya think 😉 ?
Garlic Chili Edamame from Kevin is Cooking (pictured below and photo credit). I’m telling you, I made this for hubby and I (more than once) and I can guarantee that they are on regular rotation in our home. So good. Addictively good, actually. We had them as an app, but you could easily make a meal out of these.
Hubby and I just recently started watching ‘Feed the Beast’ starring David Schwimmer (you know, the guy who plays Ross on ‘Friends’). It’s a new TV series with some drama, a touch of love and starting a restaurant. Hubby and I are a few shows in so far and love it.
Are you watching Masterchef? It’s a reality tv show featuring home cooks as they try to win the title of ‘masterchef” . We’ve tuned in every year since it started and have enjoyed it each time. No favourite contestants so far (too early to tell), but awesome as usual.
I made a recommendation a while back for Chef’s Table on Netflix. Hubby and I finished the season (#2) and it was so inspiring to watch all those talented chefs. It’s that good, that I would totally watch again. Check it out if you haven’t already.
Totally late to the party, but we just watched ‘The Martian’ starring Matt Damon. It’s on Netflix now and it was a great movie. I won’t say much ’cause you’re probably going to wanna watch it 😉
‘Me Too’ by Meghan Trainor. Just try not to dance when you hear this song. ?? Dare ya! Plus, the video is super cute and fun too! Let’s just say I have a onesie too and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I’m comfortable with who I am 😛 I’ve been blasting that song in my car the past month and singing to the top of my lungs. I’m sure passer byers think I’m nuts. Oh well. I’ve accepted it 😀 You know, I’m an awesome singer <——–slight sarcasm.
As I’ve said before, I always wear sunblock (or at least always try to), so if I have a little sun kissed glow, as we all enjoy during the Summer months, it is probably man made 😉 I have been absolutely loving a bronzer from Physician’s Formula. It’s called ‘Butter Bronzer’ so just the name alone sounds delicious, but also it is coconut scented (my fave) and it is not shimmery or anything. It’s a nice neutral bronzer perfect for contouring or giving yourself an extra bit of colour like you’ve spent a little time outside. I had it at Shopper’s Drug Mart (for those of you in Canada), but you can probably find it at a lot of retailers like Wal-Mart and Walgreens. You can also find it here on Physician’s Formula website.
RANDOM STUFF –
Our little herb garden is growing like crazy. We have LOTS of chives and mint, in particular, and our strawberry plants even have little flowers…check it—->
I used some of these babies in my Rosemary Chive Bread with Parmesan, but I think I have enough to supply a restaurant…what do you think?
Perfect for mint lemon water….who am I kidding? Mojitos ?
See the little unripened strawberry trying to hide from me ? ? I’m gonna get you and put you in my belly!!!
Our furry child has gotten into a new thing. If it’s Saturday morning and I’m sitting on a stool at our kitchen island watching hubby prepping breakfast (as the sweet thing usually does (and there’s no hint hint at this upcoming Saturday – ok, maybe a little)), furry child comes up to me wanting to get up. He sits right on the stool next to me and chills. How cute is that ??! I think if I could caption this pic he is saying ‘mommy, it’s super early; why are you taking a picture of me?!”
