Brownie Whoopie Pies with Nutella peanut Butter Frosting

Words can’t properly describe how decadently good these Brownie Whoopie Pies with Nutella Peanut Butter Frosting are…but I’m gonna try!  The whoopie pies are in brownie form, rich in chocolate flavour from melted semi-sweet chocolate as well as cocoa powder and they are dotted with peanut butter chips.  If that wasn’t enough, the two whoopie pies are joined with a not-too-sweet creamy Nutella peanut butter frosting.  Chocolate & peanut butter lovers rejoice…this is a good one!

Hi guys!  How’s ya?  How was your weekend?  We had a pretty productive weekend doing odds and ends around the house, as well as making some good eats (but that goes without saying, right 😏 I broke out my elf slippers this weekend!  Check it—>

So, these slippers hold a special place in my heart and not just because they remind me of the holidays.  A few years ago we moved  to our current home.  We moved in December, not much more than a week (yes, a week) before Christmas.  Up until we moved, the weather ’round here was decent, not too cold.  But the day we moved?  Brutally cold❄️  We lost almost all of our houseplants that day.  I remember we were in such a rush to get everything put in its place before the big day🎅 I felt like a zombie.  While it was a happy and exciting time moving into our new home, I was pooped.  We headed out and hubby ran into Wal-Mart to get paper towels or something.  I stayed waiting in the vehicle.  I wasn’t fit to go in anywhere.  Then, he gave me these slippers.  It was so thoughtful and such a lovely gesture and just put a smile on my face…I mean, just look at them.  Cute, right??  Every time I see these slippers sitting on my closet shelf, I think of that day.  For the record, we were in such a rush that year, that we didn’t even have our tree decorated😳  Nope. We have one of those pre-lit trees and it was literally just plugged in🎄Though, at least it was up.  Positive thinking.  And we were together, in our new home, with our furry child and that was a wonderful thing ❤️

Onto these Brownie Whoopie Pies with Nutella Peanut Butter Frosting, shall we?  So, I was whipping these up in the kitchen when I realized we were getting low on food for our fur baby.  Hubby was out and about on this particular Saturday so I gave him a holla to pick up some.  Of course, traffic is particularly busy on any given Saturday, but now that the holidays are quickly approaching it is extra cray cray🚗 As soon as hubby came through the door he was talking about that dang traffic.  So you know what I did to get him to stop complaining ease his pain, I walked right out to the front door and shoved one of these brownie whoopie pies in his piehole😜  And ya know what?  It worked like a charm! Tame the dragon hubby with food…exactly like me…hehehe 😉

These Brownie Whoopie Pies with Nutella Peanut Butter frosting are dangerously good, you guys.  And they literally take minutes to prep and only 10 minutes to bake so you could be having these in no time at all.  Good for your sweet tooth, not so good for your waistline.  But you know what they say?   Everything in moderation, including moderation👍

In all seriousness, though, these are not too sweet at all.  They are the perfect little bite.  I only used 1/4 cup of icing sugar in the frosting so the chocolatey-peanut butter flavour really shines through without being overly sweet.  And, if you happen to have some leftover frosting in your piping bag, I’m not gonna judge if you pipe it directly into your mouth.  Yes, I did do that🙈

You know what else I love about these?  The fact that they are easy to frost!  Being mediocre at best in the frosting department, these are perfect for moi.  Though I did pipe the frosting onto these bad boys, you could totally spoon it on too.

Hope you get a chance to try these; I know you’re gonna love ’em!  Like most brownie related recipes, these are at their best eaten fresh, but, realistically, they aren’t gonna last long anyway 😋

Instructions
Brownie Whoopie Pies
  1. In a bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and peanut butter chips. Stir to combine and lay to one side. Place parchment paper on baking sheet and lay to one side. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. In a small sauce pan with some water in it on medium heat, place a heat safe bowl over top and place chocolate chips in there to melt, stirring occasionally. This should only take a few minutes. Turn off heat when melted and let cool for a few minutes. Be careful when removing bowl from top of pot as there will be steam. Alternatively, you can melt chocolate in microwave.
  3. Meanwhile, in a stand mixer, combine butter and brown sugar and mix until creamy and fluffy, 2-3 minutes
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, to butter/sugar mixture. Then, add vanilla extract.
  5. Add reserved flour mixture to butter/sugar mixture and blend until just combined, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add melted chocolate chips to mixture and blend until incorporated, about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Using a small scoop (or about 1 tbsp), place balls of mixture on baking sheet and flatten slightly with your hand. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool on wire rack. Let cool completely before icing.
Nutella Peanut Butter Frosting
  1. In a stand mixer, combine Nutella, peanut butter and butter and mix until all incorporated, about 2-3 minutes. Add icing sugar and mix to combine.
  2. Either pipe or spoon about 1 tbsp of frosting on the flat side of one whoopie pie and top with another whoopie pie. Continue until all are assembled. Enjoy!

Those elf slippers are so cute, but honestly, I’m having trouble believing that December is so close. It’s been a really tough year for me, so I’m glad it’s coming to an end. God knows it didn’t feel like time was flying by… yet here I am. Anyway – these whoopie pies look so tasty… I’m loving your photos! I bet they taste as good as they look. 🙂

Dawn!! I can’t even with these right now. It’s too much good stuff in one place. I saw the light color in the whoopie pies, assumed it was peanuts, and thought, oh I’d like these even better if they were peanut butter chips, AND THEY WERE!! 😉 Pinning right now!

I used to have a two hour commute back in those days that I worked a 9-5, and around Christmas, that escalated to a 3 hour one – but I don’t think I’d have complained if these appeared under my nose when I got home! 🙂
These are a chocolate and pb lovers dream for sure! I’ve never made a whoopie pie so am blown away by these double chocolate (ooh la la) ones!
And, love the story about how those elf slippers came into your life! Way to go being positive inspite of a hectic move on top of the crazy hustle the holidays seem to bring. Hoping this Thanksgiving is wonderful for you, your hubs and fur baby 🙂

Cute slippers! 🙂 I have never had whoopies pies but after seeing these… I think I will have to make some soon. Two years ago we moved in our new kitchen downstairs on Christmas Eve. I had to bring all the kitchen stuff downstairs, arrange everything in the cupboards, clean and cook for 8 people in one day. I was in bed by 10 o’clock that evening…. didn’t even manage to enjoy my presents much, so tired I was (we get the presents on Christmas Eve in Germany).

First off – those slippers are amazing, and I definitely need to get a pair like those for Christmas! These would be my kryptonite – nutella AND peanut butter – there is literally nothing better. Eeee! I need them now! Have a great weekend Dawn!

I want to bite that photo of the one where you’re holding a brownie whoopie pie with those pretty pink nails. These look so amazing. You captured it completely, the softness and the chocolately goodness, oh my. Then there’s that filling and the peanut butter chips! Do you deliver? Cool slippers BTW. 🙂

Holy cow, Dawn! These sound like they are right up my alley. Chocolate + peanut butter + Nutella? I mean can you get any better than that?? I love the story about the elf slippers. Laura has a pair of Santa slippers…but our story isn’t as good. It’s merely because my Mom sent them to me, but my hoofers are just too big…so the slippers got handed down to Laura. 🙂 Oh, and look into ordering dog food online. We started doing that a year ago when Robbie was born, and I haven’t looked back! There are several sites that ship, and you can compare each to find best deals…and most have free shipping. It’s actually cheaper for me to order it online than to go out and buy it in the store! And for sharing that piece of advice, I think I deserve a Brownie Whoopie Pie, yes? Haha!

As for these whoopie pies – AHHHH! I’m a chocolate + peanut butter fanatic and this is basically all my dreams come true. Love those cute brownies and that killer frosting in the middle. The perfect sandwich 😉 I could be tamed of any bad mood with one of these! Have a great week friend! XO

I feel you with moving around Christmas, Dawn! It was the same for us last Christmas! My husband and I sold our last house, and our closing date was the day after Christmas (worst decision EVER). Needless to say, I didn’t really enjoy the holidays last year, and we didn’t even put up any decorations since everything was being packed away. it was SO stressful! But luckily, we’re in our new house and all settled in, so I can’t wait to decorate this year and enjoy the holidays. And I LOVE that your husband got you those elf slippers. How thoughtful and I can definitely see why they hold a special place in your heart! And these whoopie pies…WOW! These are so gorgeous, friend! I’m in love with that nutella pb frosting. This looks like my perfect dessert, and I NEED to try this! Pinned, of course! Hope your Monday is off to a great start!
