Peanut Butter Banana Bread with Nutella

Banana bread with oomph!  That’s how I’d describe this Peanut Butter Banana Bread with Nutella. Is there anything more perfect than chocolate + peanut butter?  And then go all Elvis-style with banana?  Nope.  Not around these parts.  Prepped in about 10 minutes, the hardest part of this recipe is waiting for this baby to bake.  Then go for it! Brownie Whoopie Pies with Nutella peanut Butter Frosting

Words can’t properly describe how decadently good these Brownie Whoopie Pies with Nutella Peanut Butter Frosting are…but I’m gonna try!  The whoopie pies are in brownie form, rich in chocolate flavour from melted semi-sweet chocolate as well as cocoa powder and they are dotted with peanut butter chips.  If that wasn’t enough, the two whoopie pies are joined with a not-too-sweet creamy Nutella peanut butter frosting.  Chocolate & peanut butter lovers rejoice…this is a good one! Apple-n-Carrot Cinnamon Spiced Muffins with Almonds & Oats – girlheartfood.com

Hey everybody!  How’s it going?

So this past weekend I discovered something that I was super excited about.   I found out a way to clean our stainless steel appliances and have them look like new!  What you ask??  Ok, ok.  I know it’s not that exciting.  Now, it’s not like finding a $20 bill in your jacket pocket or realizing you’re down 5 pounds, but it’s the little things, isn’t it?  So, I was always Continue reading

So here we are!  After all of the running around, baking, gift buying, and wrapping Christmas is on our doorstep!  It’s pretty unreal how fast the time flies.  Seemed like only yesterday that it was Christmas 2014.  Now, here we are, a year later.

Every year, I always say to myself Continue reading

Jumbo Blueberry Muffins with Orange Pecan Crumble & Orange Honey Butter

Blueberry Muffins with Orange Pecan Crumble & Orange Honey Butter

Jumbo Blueberry Muffins with Orange Pecan Crumble {and Orange Honey Butter}

Oh, look, cupcakes less popular cousin – muffins!  Well, these Jumbo Blueberry Muffins with Orange Pecan Crumble are not your average muffin, that’s for sure!  Just that they have local Newfoundland berries kinda makes them inherently wicked, that’s for sure!  Now, I may be a little biased, but blueberries in Newfoundland are by far the best blueberries found anywhere!  Seriously, though, they are so sweet & concentrated in flavour, they kick any other blueberries’ butt!  Around late Summer/early Fall, people typically go berry picking in Newfoundland.  They are grown wild and you can fill buckets and buckets with these little gems.  I recently got a bunch and couldn’t wait to bake with them (if they lasted that long before I had a chance to do so!).  They are so much tinier than any mass produced/grown ones you may find in the grocery store, but they make up for in their amazing flavour…like little candies!

Crispy Baked Curry Wings with Coconut Sriracha Dipping Sauce

Crispy Baked Curry Wings with Coconut Sriracha Dipping Sauce

Yeeeeeah – wings!  I haven’t met many people who doesn’t love a good wing!  These Crispy Baked Curry Wings with Coconut Sriracha Dipping Sauce are oven baked so they have a little less calories than if fried, but are still super tasty and crispy.  Plus, they are a welcomed change from hot sauce dredged buffalo wings (not that I don’t love those too!), but sometimes you want something a little different, you know?  This recipe has curry and garam masala (which is a mix of spices, such as cumin, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon).  Garam masala can easily be found in the spice section of your supermarket.  This, combined with the curry powder, adds a nice flavourful warmth to the wings.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread

Who doesn’t love banana bread?  I mean, it’s made with bananas so it’s technically considered a fruit, right?  Fruit is good for you, so that means banana bread is good for you.  Yes, this is my reasoning for having a second piece.

Banana bread usually is usually the result of bananas that are not at their peak.  I recently purchased too many and I had several that were about to walk off the countertop.  For me, that usually means one of two things – banana bread or smoothie.  Banana bread takes slightly more effort, but the results are so much more tastier.  Plus, you get a big hunk-o-banana bread that you can eat throughout the week. Score!

This Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread is not your average banana bread.  It is a trifecta of awesomeness – chocolate, peanut butter and bananas.  I mean, seriously!  Easy to prep, you just have to have the patience to wait for this baby to bake.  Have your cold glass of milk ready – it’s banana bread’s best friend.

‘Hard to Resist Seconds’ Baked Beans

Baked Beans

Baked Beans

Baked beans is definitely a dish that is perfect all year round!  Just think about it – they are great in the Winter after coming in from outside; they warm ya up and fill your belly.  In the Summer, who doesn’t love baked beans sitting around a campfire? They are perfect on their own or as a side. Baked beans has it going on – well, you know, as far as beans goes 🙂

Lately, hubby & I have enjoyed a side of beans with barbecued steak for super.  Have a glass of wine with it and that’s fine dining I tell ya! And, they are healthy for you too.  Just forget about the bacon, because the fibre in the beans totally outweighs the calories in the bacon, right?

My recipe is  easy and the results are sure to have people coming back for seconds.  As an added bonus, they freeze really well so you can make a batch and have ready to go when you just don’t have the time to cook.
